Weir making PGA Tour Champions debut in Michigan

Bright's Grove's Mike Weir makes his debut on the PGA Champions Tour this week at the Ally Challenge in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Weir and 80 other golfers will tee off on Friday at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club.

Jim Furyk, and K.J. Choi are also making their debuts on the tour. Weir and Furyk both turned 50 on May 12, while Choi celebrated his 50th birthday a week later.

The three will play together with a tee time of 11:45 a.m. (Fri)

Weir is the only Canadian to win a PGA Tour major, capturing the 2003 Masters, and has eight victories overall.

Other players on the Champions Tour include World Golf Hall of Famers Bernhard Langer, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Colin Montgomerie, Mark O'Meara and Tom Kite.

Play continues until Sunday.
