Sarnia pot shop proposals now total seven

The number of proposed pot shops in Sarnia is now at seven.

The latest two applications are for Bluewater Joint at 940 Murphy Rd. Unit 1, and for Chill Cannabis at 1407 London Rd. Unit 8.

Bluewater Joint is in the public notice stage, which ends August 19, while all of the other proposed stores are listed as "in progress" on the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario website.

Other applicants include Yield Cannabis Co. at 1000 Finch Drive, Unit 9, Natures Buds on Lambton Mall Road, The Cannabisery on Michener Road, Sessions Cannabis on Murphy Road, and The We Store on Exmouth Street.

It's not known when any of the stores might be authorized to open.

An application is also pending in Grand Bend for The Bend Cannabis Co. at 19 Main St.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
