Driver charged with impaired after fiery Plympton-Wyoming crash

Lambton OPP have taken another impaired driver off of the road.

Police, firefighters, and EMS responded to a crash on Oil Heritage Road in Plympton-Wyoming at around 1:10 a.m. on August 9.

According to the OPP, the suspect vehicle collided with another car, fled the scene, and drove into the ditch, catching on fire.

The driver was able to escape before the vehicle caught fire, and police allege the driver was showing signs of impairment.

He allegedly provided two breath samples over the legal limit.

A 39-year-old man from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township is charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.

He will appear in Sarnia court on October 5, 2020.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
