Sarnia police looking for brazen bike bandit

A bicycle valued at around $4,000 was taken off of a vehicle's bike rack in a brazen midday theft on Friday.

Sarnia police said the victim was at a business in the area of London Road and Pontiac Drive at around 12:45 p.m. while his wife and kids waited in the car.

They said the victim's bike was removed from the rack and pedalled away by the thief.

The bicycle is described as a black, red and white Focus Cayo road bike.

The investigation is continuing and police are attempting to obtain video in the area.

Bicycle owners are being advised to lock their bikes at all times when unattended and to consider using bike locks that are designed for bike racks to deter would be thieves from this crime of opportunity.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
