Sarnia man charged with murder in death of infant

Lambton OPP have charged a 20-year-old Sarnia man with second degree murder in connection with the death of a baby a year ago.

Police, Lambton EMS, and St. Clair Township firefighters responded to a call of a two-month-old child in medical distress at an address on Cameron Street in Corunna at around 12:45 p.m. August 20, 2019.

Cst. Jamie Stanley said the infant, Liam Watson, was rushed to hospital but died six days later.

"An investigation commenced under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch," said Stanley. "The year-long, comprehensive investigation, resulted in the arrest of a Sarnia resident yesterday."

Nathan Watson was being held in custody and was scheduled for an appearance in Sarnia court Friday, August 21.

Police are not saying what the relationship is between the child and the accused and the cause of death has not been released.
