Small invite-only Remembrance Day service in Petrolia

The Royal Canadian Legion in Petrolia says there will be no Remembrance Day parade this year but there will be a small service at the Cenotaph.

Branch 216 said the service in Victoria Park November 11 will be for invited guests only and there will be no banquet due to pandemic restrictions.

On November 8, all veteran wreaths as well as those from businesses, service groups and schools will be pre-laid.

Poppy boxes will be placed at businesses October 30.

Sarnia Legion Branch 62 announced September 30 that its traditional parade and public service at Veterans Park is cancelled.  A smaller private service was being arranged that probably will be livestreamed.

2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
