Single-vehicle crash sends one to hospital

The driver of a vehicle that hit a tree in Sarnia early this morning has been transferred to London hospital.

City police were called to a single-vehicle collision just before 1 a.m. at Lansdowne Avenue and Bennett Street.

Police say an SUV was travelling south on Lansdowne when it mounted the curb and struck a tree.

The 48-year-old male driver, the lone occupant, was taken to Bluewater Health and then transferred to London with serious injuries.

Lansdowne is closed between Confederation Street and Thompson Street while police continue to investigate and the scene is cleared of debris.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
