Sarnia firefighters called to house, vehicle fire on weekend

Working smoke alarms alerted 13 people in a home on Brock Street South to a fire Sunday morning.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services responded from three stations to the structure fire in the 400 block around 7:20 a.m.

Fire Life Safety Educator Mike Otis said damage is estimated at $100,000.

"The cause was determined to be accidental in nature," said Otis. "One person was looked at by Lambton EMS, but did not go to the hospital."

Otis said the individual's injuries were minor.

Crews also responded to a vehicle fire on Victoria Street Saturday.

No injuries were reported there.

Photos sent to Blackburn News Sarnia showed a truck fully engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke billowing into the air, over the noon hour.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
