UPDATE: Late October tornado watch, thunderstorm warning ended

It's been an unseasonably mild, windy and stormy October 23.

Early Friday afternoon, a severe thunderstorm watch was elevated to a severe thunderstorm warning for Sarnia-Lambton. A tornado watch was also issued just after 3 p.m., however, both weather alerts were ended shortly before 7 p.m.

Environment Canada said there was a chance of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts in the late afternoon and early evening.

The temperature Friday afternoon was about 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, the mercury rose to 24 C, 75 F with a humidex of 30 C, 86 F at mid-afternoon.

Gusty southwest winds will switch northwesterly in the evening with the temperature sharply dropping to a low of 4 C, 39 F.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
