An agreement will be drafted to move the historic Canatara Park Log Cabin to the Lambton Heritage Museum.
Sarnia council gave staff the go-ahead during Monday's virtual meeting.
The County of Lambton expressed interest in preserving the building before an agreement to replicate the existing cabin was approved by Sarnia council in January.
Manager of Museums, Gallery and Archives Laurie Webb said previously, the old cabin would be a nice addition to their collection of historic buildings behind the museum near Grand Bend.
The cabin, which was built in the 1830's in Goderich and moved to Sarnia about a century later, is scheduled to be rebuilt with new logs in Canatara Park.

Sarnia council has approved fines for short term accommodations operating without a business licence.
Top fines of $1000 have been set for failure to register, or advertising an unregistered accommodation, like an Airbnb.
Renting a premises that's not a principal residence, or for more than 180 days a year, carries a fine of $700.
Council agreed in February to grandfather existing rentals so they could continue operating without a primary resident, after receiving significant push-back from the industry.
There are a total of ten provisions operators have been asked to follow, with the lowest fine set at $300.
