Volunteer firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from an abandoned building at around 9:45 a.m.
They said some burning debris inside the structure was quickly extinguished.
No injuries were reported.
There were no occupants in the building at the time.
Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
