Police use taser to apprehend knife-wielding woman

A 35-year-old woman is facing assault and weapons charges after violent incidents in the 1600 block of London Line Sunday afternoon.

Sarnia police said a woman entered a coffee shop at around 3 p.m., began causing a disturbance, and struck a patron with an unknown object, causing minor injuries.

The woman then went to an area motel, confronted another person, and tried unsuccessfully to enter various rooms.

Police said an officer saw a woman stabbing the tires of vehicles parked in the motel lot, and was forced to use a taser as she began to approach with a knife in hand.

Kelly Roberta Mclean, 35, of no fixed address, is facing numerous charges including two counts of assault with a weapon, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of mischief under $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order.

The suspect remained in custody pending a bail hearing.
