Sarnia police seize drugs, shotgun in drug bust

Five people are facing drug and weapons charges after Sarnia police seized nearly $9,000 worth of drugs and a shotgun from a residence Thursday.

At around 7:20 p.m. November 12, Vice Unit officers executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Exmouth Street as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of cocaine and prescription medication.

Police seized 49.48 grams of cocaine worth $5,937, 3.2 grams of fentanyl, one gram of methamphetamine, various doses of Dilaudid pills, $2,280 in cash, two functioning tasers and a shotgun with ammunition.

Police estimated the total street value of the drugs at $8,942.

Joseph Francis Calver, 63, of Sarnia faces one count of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of careless storage of a firearm, one count of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon, and one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Carly Rae Timms, 31, of Sarnia, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon, and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.

Two other men and a woman, aged 31, 52, and 32 of Sarnia, also face drug possession and weapons charges.

All five were being held in custody pending bail hearings.
