Man arrested, charged with arson in Lanark townhouse fires

A 29-year-old man has been charged with arson in connection with a pair of townhouse fires on Lanark Court earlier this month.

Sarnia firefighters and police responded to separate blazes at around 4:20 a.m. November 3, and said significant damage was done to both homes and adjacent units.

Nathan Franklin Gardiner, of no fixed address, was arrested without incident on November 9 and is facing numerous charges:

1) Two counts of arson with disregard for human life

2) Two counts of arson (damage to property)

3) Possession of incendiary material

4) Two counts of mischief endangering life

5) Two counts of mischief over $5000.00

6) Intent to destroy or damage property by placing or throwing an explosive substance.

The accused remained in custody pending a bail hearing.
