Crude leak reported at NOVA Corunna

NOVA Chemicals reported a leak of crude at its Corunna site Tuesday afternoon.

Company spokesperson Meaghan Lawrence said NOVA personnel responded, isolated the leak and were in the process of clean-up.

"Site alarms sounded as part of our emergency response processes and regulatory authorities have been notified," Lawrence said in an email to BlackburnNews.com. "There is no off-site impact anticipated at this time however, out of an abundance of caution, we are conducting air monitoring."

The Aamjiwnaang Notification System reported at 2:30 p.m. that a Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER) Information Code 8 had been issued for a crude leak at the Petrolia Line plant.

The all-clear was sounded by 3:30 p.m.
