Petrolia native named Rhodes Scholar

A Petrolia native and University of Iowa javelin thrower, has received one of the world’s most prestigious academic scholarships.

Marissa Mueller, 20, was named a Rhodes Scholar Monday, a postgraduate award for students to study at the University of Oxford in England.

The LCCVI graduate was one of 11 Canadians named to the 2021 list.

Mueller is currently enrolled in BEng Biomedical Engineering, Pre-Medicine at Iowa.

There are now over 100 Rhodes Scholars selected each year, with an average of 250 Scholars resident in Oxford.
