City police including off-duty officer arrest suspected impaired drivers

Sarnia police arrested two alleged impaired drivers over the weekend, including one with help from an off-duty officer.

At around 8:30 p.m. November 20, an officer driving his personal vehicle was travelling southbound on Modeland Road when he spotted a vehicle swerving in and out of its lane.

The officer followed the suspect vehicle to a driveway and placed him under arrest while waiting for a uniformed officer.

The 56-year-old man blew nearly twice the legal limit and was arrested.

He will appear at the Sarnia courthouse on January 12.

At around 12:20 p.m. November 22, an officer chased a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Indian Road.

Once the vehicle was pulled over, police allege the driver got out, stumbled to his knees, and fell against the vehicle.

The 45-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving and has an appearance at the Sarnia courthouse on January 5.
