Cops for Cans collects over 10,000 lbs of food

Sarnia police had their hands full on Saturday, as officers confiscated over 10,000 pounds of various non-perishable food items.

It was part of the service's 8th Annual Cops for Cans initiative in support of the Inn of the Good Shepherd food bank.

Cst. John Sottosanti said officers located at No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, and Walmart in Sarnia, collected about 10,200 pounds of food.

"Not a new a record but still extremely amazing considering everything that is going on these days," he said.

Last year's campaign collected a record 11,879 pounds of food.
