Sarnia police investigating attempted thefts from money machines (VIDEO)

Sarnia police are investigating attempted thefts from money machines in the city.

On Tuesday, November 24, a man entered a banking vestibule on Confederation Street, placed a blanket over the window, and spray-painted over the camera.

Police said a stolen Chevy pickup truck was seen in the same area the following day.

A man went into the same vestibule, painted the windows so he couldn't be seen, and tried unsuccessfully to break into the ATM using a torch.

Also on Wednesday, police said two men with a torch tried to cut open a coin box at a car wash in the 1200 block of London Road.

Police said they were unsuccessful.

It's unknown whether the incidents are connected, and the investigation is ongoing.

A black Chevrolet pickup with Ontario plate 3021WR was stolen in the 1400 block of Lecaron Avenue during the overnight hours Sunday, November 22.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
