Warwick Township Council has approved a $10 million addition and renovation project at Watford Arena.
Mayor Jackie Rombouts is excited to share the news.
"This project has been 10 years in the making and six for me on council, so it is a labour of love that we've had going on for many, many years and we're super excited to be able to put this together for our community," said Rombouts.
She said the new facility will be a focal point for recreational, social and community events.

"We're going to have accessible washrooms, and accessible changerooms, and more storage, and then of course we have the YMCA that we're going to be partnering with, so there will be a full fitness area, along with a multipurpose, large gymnasium, with a fully functioning kitchen."

Mayor Rombouts expects construction to start in 2021.
"We are going to RFP (request for proposals) first thing in January, we're hoping to break ground as soon as the ground thaws in the spring and we're hoping that by this time in 2022 it will be completed and the community will be enjoying it," she said.
Rombouts said council plans to undertake a capital fundraising campaign soon.
"I know the community has had their say in what they want and so we're going to have a great uptake from our community and from the businesses. We're super excited because fundraising projects like that bring a community together."
