Novice driver seriously injured in June crash charged with impaired

A novice driver, who was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in St. Clair Township over five months ago, is now facing numerous charges.

Lambton OPP, EMS and volunteer firefighters responded to the single-vehicle crash on Lasalle Line, east of Kimball Road, at around 2:30 a.m. June 24.

The driver was airlifted to London hospital with critical injuries.

Police say a 20-year-old Sarnia man, holding a G1 licence, has now been charged with being unaccompanied by a qualified driver, driving at an unlawful hour, driving with a blood alcohol concentration above zero, failing to wear a seat belt properly and impaired driving by alcohol and drugs.

He is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on January 11, 2021.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
