The OPP and Sarnia police jointly launched a series of drug raids recently including a bust at Pot of Gold Medicinals and Edibles that led to the seizure of over a million dollars worth of cannabis products.
On December 8, at around 9 a.m., the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, with help from city police, executed a warrant at Pot of Gold in the 1800 block of St. Clair Parkway.
Officers seized $1,043,110 worth of cannabis in various forms - bud, oils and edibles - and $2,965 in currency.
Two men, aged 35 and 45, were charged with illegally possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling under the Cannabis Act.
On the same day at around the same time, the cannabis enforcement team executed a warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Secretariate Drive in Corunna. A 42-year-old woman and three men, aged 32, 38, and 64, were arrested and each face a charge of illegally possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling under the Cannabis Act.
During a search of the residence, officers located and seized $5,770 worth of cannabis products, $21,870 in Canadian currency, and $178 in American currency.
The enforcement team had also been investigating a company called BC BUDZ ON WHEELS which allegedly had been illegally selling various quantities of cannabis and related products from an online store. The company allegedly offered delivery of illicit products within Sarnia and the surrounding area.
On December 9, at around 11 a.m., a vehicle was stopped in the 200 block of Queen Street and a quantity of cannabis and currency were seized.
The 23-year-old male driver was charged with illegally possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing, and the sale of cannabis to an individual 18-years-of-age or older.
At around 11:30 a.m., a warrant was executed at a Queen Street residence where $301,840 worth of cannabis and cannabis edibles, and $2,225 in currency were seized along with the vehicle that had been stopped earlier.
A second suspect, a 36-year-old man, is also being sought on similar charges in connection with the investigation.
