UPDATE: Fatal fire on Stuart Street under investigation

One person died in a house fire on Stuart Street in Sarnia Wednesday.

A total of 15 city firefighters from three stations, Sarnia police and Lambton EMS responded at around 12:30 p.m. to the 100 block near Davis Street.

Cst. Nelson Amaral said one person was removed from the residence by firefighters and pronounced dead. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze, and the area will remain cordoned off until further notice.
