Sarnia police, OPP investigating discovery of body off Hwy. 402

Sarnia police are investigating the discovery of a dead body near the eastbound Highway 402 off-ramp to Exmouth Street and Indian Road.

Cst. John Sottosanti said officers were called to the area by a highway maintenance employee at around 12:22 p.m. Tuesday, after a body was found in an area near the southwest side of the ramp.

Cst. Sottosanti said there's no concern for public safety at this time and said Sarnia police are being assisted by the forensics team and OPP.

The ramp is expected to be closed for a significant period of time, and police are asking the public to avoid the area.

No further details, including a cause of death, are available at this time.
