February court date set for Corunna man charged with murder

A Corunna man facing second degree murder charges in the death of a Corunna woman New Year's Eve, will appear again in Sarnia court early next month.

Shawn Trowbridge, 51, has been remanded in custody for an appearance by video February 2.

Trowbridge was arrested after Lambton OPP responded to Riverside Drive in Corunna during the early morning hours December 31.

Police say the victim, 51-year-old Cheryl Vanhuizen of Corunna, was pronounced dead after officers arrived.

The case is under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch with help from the OPP Forensic Identification Services and Lambton OPP Crime Unit.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
