Man arrested in first Sarnia drug bust of year

The Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit has executed its first search warrant of 2021.

Court permission was granted to search a residence in the 400 block of Devine Street as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of illicit drugs.

Cst. John Sottosanti said officers were conducting surveillance at around 7 p.m. Tuesday, when a suspect leaving the residence on foot tried to flee. The man was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Police say 30.4 grams of cocaine, 15.1 grams of methamphetamine and just over $1400 in Canadian currency were seized, with a total street value of $4550.

A 24-year-old Sarnia man was released from custody and is to appear in court February 3 on two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
