COVID cases up 40, one new LTC outbreak declared in Sarnia-Lambton

Lambton Public Health reported 40 new COVID-19 cases and one new outbreak Sunday.

The number of active outbreaks locally is now at 20, up one from Saturday.

The latest outbreak was declared Saturday at Sumac Lodge Long-Term Care Home in Sarnia where one staff member tested positive for the virus.

A long-term care or other communal living setting outbreak is declared facility-wide when one or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 case(s) in a staff member or resident and possible exposure to others in the setting has occurred.

The local health unit reported 1,224 confirmed cases since March, an increase of 40, along with 56 new resolved cases for a total of 1,006. The active caseload is at 190, down 16 from Saturday.

Sunday Bluewater Health reported eight COVID-positive patients in hospital, up two since Saturday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
