Sarnia police investigating city's first homicide of 2021

Sarnia police are investigating the city's first murder of 2021.

At about 5:30 p.m. Saturday January 9, city police, and Sarnia-Lambton paramedics responded to a residence in the 900 block of Confederation Street where an injured man needed medical attention.

The man, Luis Enrique Hernandez, 26, of Sarnia was immediately transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said the Criminal Investigation Branch is actively investigating the incident as a homicide. They said it appeared to be an isolated event but further details were not released.

On Sunday, a police cruiser was stationed at a row house complex on the north side of Confederation Street just east of Indian Road and part of the complex was cordoned off with yellow police tape.
