Provincial pot team's local impact includes $1.3M in seizures

The OPP's Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team recently released stats covering the past two years, and have now broken out the numbers for Sarnia-Lambton.

Detective Inspector Jim Walker said seven warrants have been executed in Sarnia and St. Clair Township to date, resulting in the seizure of about $1,350,000 in drugs.

He said 19 arrests were made, and a total of 61 charges laid.

With help from Sarnia police, officers seized 127,910 grams of dried cannabis, 557 grams of hashish, 2,871 grams of shatter, 5,452 edibles, 330 pre-rolled cannabis cigarettes, 263 vape pens, 2,597 CBD oil products, as well as $263,777 in currency.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
