Driver charged with impaired following crash in Plympton-Wyoming

A 32-year-old Sarnia man is facing impaired driving and drug possession charges after a crash on Saturday afternoon on Confederation Line.

Lambton OPP responded to the collision in Plympton-Wyoming at around 3:30 p.m.

Police said one of the drivers was showing signs of impairment, and was taken to the Petrolia detachment for a drug evaluation. They said they found suspected fentanyl while searching the driver.

The man was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada and possession of a schedule one substance pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on February 10, 2021.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
