Lambton OPP deploy spike belt to stop fleeing vehicle

Lambton OPP say they had to deploy a spike belt to stop a fleeing vehicle Friday night in the area of Rokeby Line and Inwood Road.

Police said an improperly plated vehicle was seen heading eastbound on Rokeby Line at around 10:20 p.m.

After ignoring a stop sign at Inwood Road, officers were able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop using the spike belt.

A 38-year-old St. Thomas man faces numerous charges, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, using unauthorized plates, driving while under suspension, and driving without insurance.

The suspect was remanded in custody after appearing in court.
