Online fundraisers launched in memory of the victim of a homicide in Sarnia last week have raised nearly $50,000.
Two Go Fund Me pages started by family members for Natalie Bartlett's two young daughters, as of Wednesday, had brought in $48,000.
Joseph Dominic Dicarlo, 45, of Sarnia is charged with first degree murder in connection with the 39-year-old woman's death. He's in custody awaiting his next court appearance January 27 when a date for a bail hearing is expected to be set.
On January 14 at about 12:30 a.m., Sarnia police, fire and Lambton EMS responded to a call about a woman suffering serious injuries at a home on Lee Court. The woman was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police said a suspect was arrested at the scene and that the victim and the accused were known to each other.
The woman's brother Thomas Bartlett launched a Go Fund Me page entitled "We Called Her Natalie".
A statement on the page reads "I'm starting this page on behalf of my loving sister and her little girls. Natalie was tragically taken from us at the tender age of 39, leaving behind two young daughters."
The girls are now living in London with their father.
