Balloon buddies being delivered to residents of long-term care and nursing homes in Lambton County are lifting spirits.
Just Baskits and Balloon Decor is participating in a nationwide balloon campaign called "Adopt a Grandparent". It invites people to purchase balloon buddies to send to a facility once every resident is adopted.
Sarnia’s Rosewood Village Retirement Home Executive director Jenica Tanguay said over 40 balloon buddies were delivered to them recently.
"So that's one for each resident and a couple extra for our nursing desk and common areas," said Tanguay. "When our staff delivered the balloon buddies to each resident, the residents were full of smiles and laughter."
She said each buddy comes with a note to let residents know people are thinking about them.
"The residents thought the balloon buddies were pretty cute and some of them even gave them a name. They're brought in to bring cheer into the home and our staff even had a good laugh delivering them to the residents."
So far, Just Baskits said two full seniors residences have been adopted and 110 residents have received a balloon buddy.
