Storm system causes slick roads, cold snap in store

The Sarnia area didn't get a lot of snow but a vigorous storm system caused slippery roads and reduced visibility at times Friday morning.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 402 at Kerwood were closed for awhile for the removal of a transport truck that spun out and ended up in the south ditch facing west.

In the wake of the storm, a prolonged stretch of unseasonably cold weather is taking hold as Arctic air floods into the region.

Environment Canada said the temperature will remain steady at around minus 7 C with a wind chill near minus 16 Friday afternoon.

Daytime highs around minus 8 C, 17 F, are forecast to continue through most of next week.

Normal highs for this time of year in Sarnia are around -1 C, 30 F.
