Teen charged with stunt driving after vehicle clocked at 130 km/h

A Sarnia teen is facing stunt driving charges after being clocked at over 130 kilometres an hour on Indian Road Thursday night.

Sarnia police say at around 8:30 p.m., an officer spotted a vehicle travelling northbound on Indian near Plank Road at a high rate of speed.

After getting a reading of more than 130 kilometres an hour in the 70 kilometer an hour zone, the officer pulled over the 19-year-old driver.

In addition to the stunt driving charge, the suspect vehicle has been impounded for seven days, and the driver's licence has been suspended for a week.

Police say upon conviction, stunt driving includes penalties of up to six months in jail, a fine of up to $10,000 and six demerit points.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
