Smoke alarms help occupants escape overnight blaze

Sarnia fire say no injuries are reported following a house fire just after midnight Saturday that completely destroyed a kitchen.

Firefighters responded to the blaze on Indian Road near London Road at around 12:30 a.m.

The service said firefighters performed another quick knock down, and working smoke alarms in the residence provided early detection and a safe escape by the occupants.

Sarnia Fire Rescue is reminding residents that "Working smoke alarms save lives!"

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
