Strong start to year for planned home construction in Sarnia

New home construction is off to a strong start in the City of Sarnia in 2021.

City hall issued building permits in January for 16 single family houses with a total value of over $5.5 million. The monthly permit total is significantly higher than any month during all of 2020.

In total, 38 permits were issued in January with a construction value of $10.9 million, double the amount recorded during the first month of last year.

The largest permit of the month was for $1.1 million for interior renovations for a dental surgery clinic at the London Road Shopping Centre.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
