Eight additional COVID-19 cases in London-area

London-Middlesex reported just eight new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday and no new deaths.

With Sunday's cases, the regional case count overall is now at 6,286 with 140 cases active cases.

Ten additional recoveries were also reported on Sunday. So far, 5,962 individuals in the London-area have recovered from the virus while 184 people have died since the pandemic began. The last death in the region was reported was on Wednesday.

The number of laboratory confirmed variant cases remained at four on Sunday.

Although one institutional outbreak was declared over on Sunday, another one was added to the current outbreak list. One outbreak within Dearness Home was listed as being resolved on Saturday while an outbreak was declared at Fox Hollow Retirement Residence. Outbreaks are also ongoing at Chartwell Royalcliffe Retirement Residence, Dearness Home, Meadow Park Care Centre, Richmond Woods and Strathmere Lodge.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit covering St. Thomas, Woodstock and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported three new cases on Sunday with the case count now sitting at 2,569.

Across Ontario, 1,299 additional cases were reported on Sunday as well as 15 new deaths and 1,105 recoveries. Overall, Ontario has seen a total of 308,296 cases since the pandemic began.
