New COVID cases up 39 in Sarnia-Lambton

Sarnia-Lambton recorded an upswing of 39 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Saturday.

The total case count since the start of the pandemic moved past 2,900 to 2,917, recoveries went up by 18 for a total of 2,670. Deaths remained unchanged at 50 and the number of active cases climbed by 21 to 197.

As of Friday, cases involving Variants of Concerns were still at 133.

Active institutional, school and workplace outbreaks dropped by one to 11. On Friday an outbreak declared March 23 at Rosewood Retirement Village had infected 19 residents and one staff.

Bluewater Health reported Saturday that there are still seven COVID-positive patients in hospital.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
