COVID outbreak declared at Watford childcare centre

Lambton Public Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak at the North Lambton Childcare Centre in Watford.

The health unit reported the outbreak at the St. Peter Canisius Catholic School site Friday after one staff and one child tested positive.

In a media release Saturday morning, Supervisor of Family Health Rhonda Galler said the individuals testing positive have been notified of their result.

“LPH is continuing to conduct case and contact management as part of the investigation."

The health unit said no additional details will be provided at this time based on the current needs of the investigation.

A child care setting outbreak is declared when two or more lab-confirmed cases are reported in children, staff or other visitors in a setting with an epidemiological link within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the child care facility.
