Single digit increase in new COVID cases Sunday

Sarnia-Lambton recorded a single digit increase in new COVID-19 cases Sunday.

Lambton Public Health reported that new confirmed infections rose by seven to 3,188 while those considered resolved went up five to 3,054. The number of active cases increased by two to 78.

The health unit reported the area's 56th death Saturday. An individual in their 80s died in hospital.

Active workplace and institutional outbreaks was unchanged at four, although public health did report Saturday that it's investigating an outbreak at the North Lambton Childcare Centre in Watford.

Bluewater Health reported 11 positive patients in hospital, up one over the last 24 hours.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
