UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watch ended for Sarnia-Lambton

Environment Canada warned of the potential for severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening but nothing materialized.

A severe thunderstorm watch issued for Sarnia-Lambton just after 1 p.m. was cancelled after 5 p.m.

Environment Canada said conditions were favourable for the development of storms with wind gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour, and hail of up to 2 to 3 centimetres in diameter.

Winds shifted northeasterly and the temperature at Chris Hadfield Airport fell from 25 C at 2 p.m. to 9 C by 5 p.m. A high of only 7 C, 45 F, is forecast in Sarnia Thursday. The normal high at this time of year is 17 C, 63 F.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
