Driver allegedly caught with cannabis during RIDE program

An alleged impaired driver from London has been charged after being stopped during a RIDE program in Grand Bend.

Lambton OPP said a checkpoint was set up Sunday on Main Street. A driver was stopped at approximately 10:30 p.m. and taken to the Lambton OPP detachment.

Police said a 20-year-old was charged with operation while impaired and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
