Bright's Grove family wins over $11K from Sunshine 50/50

A young family from Bright's Grove won over $11,600 from the Sunshine Foundation's first ever 50/50 draw.

Mike Acorn, wife Zoe, and their daughter Leilani were presented with an oversized novelty cheque outside their home Saturday.

The 50/50, launched on May 6, will support the organization's efforts to help children living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.

In a release from the Sunshine Foundation, the non-profit said it has has fulfilled more than 8,500 dreams for children and youth across Canada and coordinated 63 Sunshine DreamLifts since 1987.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
