Sarnia hospital reports 50th COVID-related death

Bluewater Health reported its 50th COVID-related death Sunday morning.

The hospital said the male patient was in his 70s and was from outside Sarnia-Lambton.  It's the Sarnia hospital's first reported COVID death since June 1.

There are currently four COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down one from Saturday.

One new case of COVID-19 was reported in Sarnia-Lambton Sunday morning, along with three new resolved cases.

Lambton Public Health has now reported 3,597 confirmed cases, including 62 deaths and 3,497 resolved, during the pandemic.

Active cases are at 38, down two over the past 24 hours, and active outbreaks are unchanged at one.

The last time new daily cases were in double digits was May 28.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
