Inn's veggie truck marks 10 years on the road

The Inn of the Good Shepherd's Mobile Market is back for a tenth year.

They're visiting 14 neighbourhoods across Sarnia-Lambton, until at least the end of October, providing fresh vegetables to clients in need.

Executive Director Myles Vanni said last year they served about 1,000 people every week, and expects to be even busier this summer.

"We also have health promoters onsite at the market where they can learn about different health needs," said Vanni. "That includes baby health, heart health, and stopping smoking. So, there's really a health focus in order to get people feeling better."

Vanni said thanks to help from sponsors Pembina Pipelines and Cestar Group, he anticipates being able to distribute 5,000 to 6,000 pounds of fresh food every Friday. He's also thankful for the generosity of farm, greenhouse donors and home gardeners.

Stops include Kathleen Ave., Roger St., the YMCA Learning Centre, Veteran's Park, and other communities including Aamjiwnaang and Kettle Point.

The Inn will also being distributing Snack Packs to children, in place of the Student Nutrition Program.
