Germain Park Arena demolition underway (VIDEO)

The demolition of Germain Park Arena has begun.

After 42 years in operation, the facility was closed to the public in July 2015.

In May, Sarnia City Council awarded a $132,000 tender for the demolition of the derelict building to Salandria Ltd. of Richmond Hill.

City staff will be reporting back to council with potential uses for the site.

Council approved spending $74,000 in April for a feasibility study for an indoor multi-purpose recreation facility. It has been suggested that the Germain Arena site be considered for such a facility.
