SIU probing incident involving Sarnia police

Ontario's police watchdog has invoked its mandate following an incident involving Sarnia police.

At around 11:10 p.m. Thursday, officers located a male suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant in the area of Talfourd Street and Elsfield Crescent.

Police said the suspect was injured during the arrest and required medical attention.

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has been notified.

The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
