Sarnia driver charged with impaired, clocked at 125 km/h in a 60 zone

A Sarnia man is facing impaired driving charges after being clocked at over twice the speed limit near Petrolia Friday night.

Lambton OPP spotted a vehicle travelling at 125 kilometres per hour in a 60 km/h zone on Oil Heritage Road near Progress Drive at around 9:10 p.m. and conducted a traffic stop.

While speaking with the driver, police said it became apparent that he had consumed an alcoholic beverage and that he was displaying signs of impairment, leading to his arrest.  The accused was then taken back to the area OPP detachment where he provided two breath samples above the legal limit.

On top of two impaired driving charges, the 27-year-old suspect was also charged with stunt driving.  The man has been released and has a court date set for August 23.
