New festival secures provincial funding

More than $250,000 in provincial funding has been earmarked for some special events in Sarnia-Lambton, including one festival that has yet to be announced.

The LiUNA Yunity Festival will receive nearly $66,000 of the roughly $256,000 that will be invested in the area.  Details about the event are expected in the near future.

Victoria Playhouse Petrolia will receive over $116,000 for its "Music in the Air" outdoor concert series.

Bluewater Borderfest’s Rocking the Runway drive in concert gets $56,000, and the South Western International Film Festival is getting $18,000.

The funding, announced earlier this month, is part of nearly $50-million the province is investing in festivals and events under the Reconnect Program, formerly known as Celebrate Ontario.
